Goulburn Murray Virtual Industry Careers Experience

Client

Goulburn Murray Local Learning and Employment Network (GMLLEN)

Location

Goulburn Murray Region

Spiire’s Visual Media team was engaged by the Goulburn Murray Local Learning and Employment Network (GMLLEN) to develop a platform to connect local students with key career pathways.

Our solution uses immersive technology to provide real-world insights into professions that are in demand across the region.

The team worked closely with GMLLEN to develop the Goulburn Murray Virtual Industry Careers Experience (GM VICE). It’s a digital environment that students can explore as a website on personal computers or as Web XR experience using virtual reality headsets.

Users can visit seven industries, each with five or more 360-degree environments containing more than 30 video interviews. These cover growing industries that are experiencing skills shortages, including health, community services, manufacturing, construction, transport and logistics and emerging industries.

The package uses creative content to inspire young people to find or follow passions and pursue local opportunities they may not have encountered before. It includes motion graphic animations and a chatbot to offer students tailored navigation based on their responses. Users will receive a follow-up email with information about the roles they visited the most and suggestions for pathways into those industries.

The framework for delivering this project pushes new ground by using innovative technology to create a bespoke content management system that functions for web and virtual reality. This allows GMLLEN to keep the site’s content fresh and updated with opportunities that are in demand.

Our team’s services include web development, video production, audio, graphic design, motion graphics and virtual reality software development.

We’re thrilled that the project has received a series of accolades, winning gold awards in the Digital – Education and Digital – AR/ VR New Experiences categories in the 2022 Better Futures Melbourne Design Awards, before proceeding to the national level to win the gold (Digital – Education) and silver (Digital – AR/ VR New Experiences) awards in the 2023 Australian Design Awards. GM VICE subsequently received silver awards in both categories at the international level of the Better Futures program, the 2023 WILD Design Awards.

GM VICE is a multiple award winning project by Spiire Visual Media team.
