Spiire was engaged by Abiwood Pty Ltd to design and deliver the 750 lot Pinnacle Estate located in Ballarat’s western growth corridor. The team are engaged to undertake civil engineering, landscape, visual media and surveying services for the project.

The 71 hectare development is bounded by the Kensington Creek to the west and incorporates passive open space areas along the full length of the Kensington Creek that invites residents to explore the open space with shared footpaths meandering through the estate. The estate includes various external infrastructure sub projects including a sewer pump station to service 2,500 lots, two intersections along the Glenelg Highway and three wetlands that will be located adjacent to the Kensington Creek.

Our Surveying and Spatial team have delivered plans of subdivision and pegging and as construction survey of services which has partially included drone footage whilst our Civil Engineering team was responsible for the design and delivery of road, drainage, sewer, water & NBN designs.

This project has presented a number of challenges and opportunities including steep land, cultural heritage assets and a significant creek interface and our civil engineers have successfully worked with the wider project team and authorities to develop appropriate solutions. Our construction methodology, material selection and design guidelines were developed to reduce the project’s environmental impacts during construction and into the future. The estate straddles a rocky escarpment leading to large volumes of rock having to be excavated. This rock has been retained on site, crushed and re-used in the construction of the development, which reducing the environmental impact of this project considerably.

More recently our landscape architects have been appointed to design and oversee ongoing landscape works at Pinnacle Estate which has included design, documentation and contract administration of streetscape works. Our Visual Media artists have also delivered a photorealistic 3D render for marketing purposes.

Due for completion in 2026, Pinnacle Estate was Ballarat’s first development to receive the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) EnviroDevelopment accreditation incorporating sustainable practices in the construction, landscaping and living.
