Spiire was engaged by Wel.Co to support the development of Gracewood, a significant addition to the town of Mallala, located about 60km north of Adelaide and home to the Mallala Race track.

Client

Wel.Co

Location

Mallala, SA

This Wel.Co masterplanned community will provide over 500 residential lots to the immediate north of the existing township when complete, enabling substantial growth in the town of approximately 1000 people.

Our local Adelaide office is leading an integrated project team providing civil engineering, construction consultancy and water engineering services for the 19-stage development. This includes designing creative solutions to service the future Gracewood community, which is one of the first residential developments of this scale in the region.

Our Water Engineering and Civil Engineering teams worked collaboratively to develop a considered stormwater management plan in response to the site’s flat terrain. After preliminary grading of the site revealed the need for up to 300,000 cubic metres of imported fill, our team worked together to identify an optimal drainage outfall solution, combined with creative road grading, which reduced this large quantity such that there is no requirement to import fill across the project.

With designs complete for the first eight stages of the estate, we are continuing to support our client into the construction phase.

Our local team is providing construction consultancy services, currently working with head contractor Winslow on the delivery of stages 1-4. This package of work contains 73 residential lots, the first stage of the reserve, and the first of the estate’s road network including an intersection with Traeger Road assessed by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT).
