We’re providing design, project management and construction consultancy services for the Ballarat Southern Trunk Sewer project, and the associated Sewer Pump Station and Rising Main project at Cherry Flat Road.
Spiire was engaged by Central Highlands Water to design and administer the construction contract of a new 1.78km trunk sewer pipeline in Smythes Creek.
The 600mm diameter pipeline stretches south from the established sewer pump station at Pinnacle estate to the new pump station at Cherry Flat Road. Together, these projects will service significant population increase in the Ballarat West growth area and facilitate the development of thousands of residential lots in the precinct.
Spiire’s Civil Engineering team in Bendigo, supported by our local Construction Consultancy professionals in Ballarat, have worked on these interlocking projects for several years. As the engineering consultant at Pinnacle estate, our established knowledge of the region and surrounding developments underpinned our work on these infrastructure assets.
Throughout the design and construction of the trunk sewer pipeline and sewer pump station, our team responded to cultural heritage sensitivities and drew on the expertise of our in-house Town Planning team to help navigate requirements in the early stages.
Construction of the Trunk pipeline commenced in February 2024 and is expected to be completed in September 2024.
Key to both the trunk sewer and pump station projects has been working closely with multiple stakeholders including developers, authorities, landowners, contractors and suppliers to coordinate requirements, meet different specifications and resolve challenges.
We have worked together with pump station supplier Aquatec to deliver the designs for the new pump station, which also includes approximately 2km of sewer rising main. We’re also providing contract administration services for both projects over the construction period.
We’re proud to be supporting Central Highlands Water in boosting the network’s capacity to service future Ballarat residents.
“Thanks to Spiire for their proactive and pragmatic approach to managing these projects. The team’s capacity to resolve challenges in a timely manner has helped maintain momentum for delivering these important assets for the community,” a Central Highlands Water spokesperson said.
