Our Survey and Civil Engineering teams worked with Delorean Corporation on a new Yarra Valley Water facility in Lilydale that’s set to divert about 55,000 tonnes of food waste from landfill each year.
Surveyors from our Ballarat and Gippsland offices joined forces to provide the structural setout and pre-pour verifications. It’s a particular area of expertise for Senior Associate Nathan Farrell, who joined our Ballarat team at the start of 2024.
Nathan joined the business with a strong track record delivering projects across a range of sectors, attained over 30 years working in the industry in both NSW and VIC. This experience bolsters the local team’s capabilities as it continues to grow.
With a keen understanding of the expectations and requirements of engineering setout, Nathan is providing valuable guidance to support surveyor Jared Brand from our Gippsland office to deliver the surveying works on site to support the Lilydale Food Waste to Energy facility.
It provided an opportunity for Jared to continue developing his skillset in engineering construction survey, while also supporting the delivery of a project led by our Civil Engineering team in Melbourne. The civil team’s designs included a signalised intersection with Maroondah Highway, an access road leading to the site and assets within the facility itself.
Nathan says the team effort and knowledge-sharing between different Spiire offices and disciplines has helped to facilitate smooth communication throughout the project.
“We’ve got a direct line of communication and know we’re all speaking the same language, working together to satisfy the client’s requirements,” Nathan says. “The business has the ability to share resources across offices so you can contribute, regardless of your location.”
