The Yarra’s Edge project is one of Mirvac’s premier medium-high density projects in the Docklands.
Spiire has led a diverse consulting team to manage complex site constraints such as some of Melbourne’s oldest utilities, complex geotechnical conditions and stormwater management issues on site whilst maintaining a focus on a strong sustainability and design ethos for the project.
The site was a former wharf area associated with the functioning of the Port of Melbourne. Numerous existing and abandoned services, including infrastructure associated with railway activities, were present that required extensive research and liaison with owners. Existing stormwater drains traversed the site that required realignment, including new connections to the Yarra that incorporated flexible couplings and installation by divers.
While the site has been developed as integrated housing, including multi-level high rise, the surrounding infrastructure and roadways are Authority owned. Extensive collaboration was required with key project stakeholders and the development architects as-built form was developed during the approvals process for surrounding infrastructure.
