Maude Street Mall Revitalisation – So What Do You Think?

Shepparton’s Maude Street Mall revitalisation plan has been released to the public for comment. Spiire and the City of Greater Shepparton are leading the approximate $340,000 activation plan which will inject life back into the ailing town centre.

Spiire has provided a series of options to council to diversify the space and attract people back into it. The options were centered on the township’s core values and assets; foodbowl status, water, cultural diversity and climate.

When it comes to activating spaces, we like to take a different approach. We’ve tried and tested numerous space activation concepts across Victoria. For the Maude Street Mall project we’ve suggested open air dining and an art gallery, pop up food kiosks and a playground using solar-powered features. All of the concepts create a story, a sense of place and community that people can connect to and identify with the Maude Street Mall space.

The great thing about these concepts is that they’re not permanent. They can be moved or adapted to meet the changing needs of the community.

The City of Greater Shepparton and Spiire are now taking all of these concepts to the community via a campaign titled ‘So What Do You Think?’ The campaign, using various media, aims to get the community engaged and to provide feedback on what they want their Maude Street Mall to look like.
