Kensington Gardens retirement village, located in Thurgoona, Albury, has been developed on a 26 hectare site.
Spiire led the development of this project using an integrated approach.
The brief asked us to create opportunities for the residents to enjoy an active social life in their spacious surroundings.
We were asked to retain, yet improve, the natural and peaceful rural setting. This was achieved by integrating much of the established flora into the design of the estate, while also allowing for woodland vegetation areas.
Our teams were tasked to establish a wildlife corridor that sat alongside major services. The solution was to create usable open grassland areas next to a vegetated buffer zone.
Spiire achieved creative solutions for Kensington Gardens through the clever collaboration of our multi-disciplinary teams. This meant that the authority approvals at all stages of the project came in on time.
Completed in 2012, the village comprises over 300 affordable, standalone permanent homes.
Its contemporary facilities include: outdoor recreation areas, open park areas, a gymnasium, an entertainment complex, a restaurant and a theatre/function area.
Today, Kensington Gardens provides an exclusive lifestyle, in a beautiful setting, for its residents.
